LUMA uses PureGlass™, a specially toughened borosilicate cooking bowl that’s non-reactive and toxin-free. 

Unlike metal baskets with coatings that can scratch, peel, or release microplastics:

• PureGlass™ does not absorb odors, stains, or flavors

PureGlass™ is designed for high temperatures with very low thermal expansion:

Each bowl has been stress tested rigorously. It can withstand extreme thermal shock up to 220 °C hot exposure for 2 hours followed by 5°C cold immersion (ΔT ≈ 215 °C) without deforming or weakening. LUMA operates within a controlled cooking range of 60–200 °C, keeping it comfortably within safe limits and ensuring consistent, reliable performance.

LUMA’s design minimizes that risk.

• PureGlass™ borosilicate glass has significantly lower thermal conductivity than metal, so heat builds gradually rather than transferring instantly to the edges.
• Side-mounted ergonomic handles (instead of a centre pull) provide a secure grip while keeping hands away from the hottest cooking zones.
• The handles are made from heat and flame-retardant engineered polymers, designed to remain comfortable to hold during typical cooking cycles.
• As a result, lifting, carrying, and serving is more controlled and safer compared to conventional pull out basket designs.

As with any high-temperature appliance, we recommend using care immediately after cooking.
